Meet Kevin – Founder of Peak Explore
I’ve dedicated my career to education, working across both mainstream and Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) settings, and holding senior leadership positions including Head of Department, Director, Assistant Head Teacher, and Head Teacher. These roles gave me a deep understanding of how systems work—and where they often fall short for neurodivergent and emotionally vulnerable young people.
Peak Explore was born from that insight. It’s the place where structured teaching, emotional awareness, and outdoor adventure collide. I’ve delivered a range of practical, hands-on qualifications—such as the NOLA Award, MIAS Mountain Bike Awards, and Paddle Awards—and continue to grow and expand the breadth of awards offered to meet the needs and interests of young people. I’ve also pioneered initiatives like the Rainbow Award and established the UK’s first SEMH-based CrossFit gym, creating spaces where learners can build real-world strength, resilience, and self-belief.
Outside of work, I’m an explorer myself—mountaineering, paddleboarding, lifting, climbing, and leaning into the elements. Staying active and grounded in nature isn’t just something I believe in—it’s something I live.
At the heart of Peak Explore are our core principles:
Empowerment through Experience – Building confidence, independence, and resilience through hands-on learning.
Trauma-Informed Practice – Providing compassionate support tailored to individual needs.
Movement for Growth – Using bushcraft, adventure sports, and physical training to build strength—mentally and physically.
Skilled Facilitation – Programmes shaped by professionals with educational leadership experience, using structured approaches that support meaningful development.
Connection with Nature – Fostering curiosity, regulation, and environmental awareness.
Positive Futures – Equipping young people with the skills and self-belief to thrive beyond the session.
